Divination

Divination, is the ability to forecast the future by intuitive, unscientific or irrational means. Some forms of divination are Clairvoyance, automatic writing, channeling and interpreting omens or events. For example, dream interpretation or translating the movement of an object, such as with candle prophecies ( Lampadomancy), clouds ( Ceraunoscopy) or tea leaves ( Tasseography). Other divination systems include the use of Dowsing sticks, pendulums, coins and hexagrams such as with I Ching or dice , such as with Rune Stones. Some of the oldest divination systems are Palmistry, Geomancy, Cleromancy and Aeromancy, which were practised before recorded history. Some of the newest forms of divination are based on methods practised in antiquity, such as the use of computer software to read tarot, interpret an astrological chart or decode dreams. Casting of Lots This is a fortune telling system that uses dice, bones or other articles that have markings on the side. It's part of the practice called sortilege, and works by the person asking the question to toss the object on to a table or the floor. The objects are then interpreted by psychics through the codes marked on them or interpreting the position that they have fallen. Crystal Prediction Psychics have long used crystals or jewels for predicting the future, and is said to be one of the oldest forms of scrying and were used by ancient civilisations including Aztecs, Incas, Babylonians and Egyptians. Crystals have, and still, are used for meditation, psychic readings and healing chakras. Birthstones are crystals that have an astrological connection for example Aries: Diamond, Ruby, Jasper, Taurus, Sapphire, lapi, lazuli etc. Wearing a particular crystal is believed to assist the psychic with its power. For example psychic ability is thought to be increased if a diamond is worn or carried. Likewise a Sapphire will help with channelling and a Fire Opal should be worn or carried to enhance clairaudience. Obscure Divination Most cultures throughout their long history have seen various forms of fortune telling. Foretelling famine, drought, war and pestilence have usually been the domain of the soothsayer, shaman or psychic. The systems used can be varied and may seem very strange by modern standards, in particular in comparison techniques seen at psychic fairs. Anthropomancy - is possibly the most ancient art of divination and dates back 5000 years. It uses the entrails, in particular the intestines of human sacrifices. These where interpreted by psychics to forecast future events. It was a system practised by ancient Babylonians, Sumerians, Japanese and the Greeks and Romans. It is an offshoot of Hepatomancy - a divinational method where by the livers of animals was studied. Even today the livers of animals are studied by psychics in Borneo and Burma. Apantomancy is a divination method that interprets the chance encounters with animals. Examples of this are black cats crossing ones path is considered to be lucky. In ancient Europe an accidental meeting with a white mouse or a hedgehog indicated good luck, where as the sighting of a pig, bat or a hare told of doom. In ancient Babylon psychics of the time would interpret the coat of dog entering a place
