Relief can be found by crying, exercising or venting anger. Putting up a resistance to feelings of sadness may indicate a belief that the showing of emotions is a sign of weakness or failure. It could also indicate a fear that once you've let go of your emotions you will be forever submerged in them and may not able to resurface again. However, this may also be a time that you need to be in touch with how you feel on a deep level. This means really feeling the sadness in all it's complexities. This is not a time to escape from your feelings, it's a time to stay with them in order to heal. What this requires is allowing yourself plenty of time and space preferably in a privacy......
