The Hanged Man (12) The Hanged Man shows an image of a man suspended upside down by one leg from a "T" shaped tree like gallows. His legs are crossed in a figure four shape, his arms are bent and his hands are behind his back. His facial expression is calm as he serenely contemplates the universe, as if the position was of his own choosing. The Hanged man emphasises suspension and the need to let go of living in the material world and to seek other perspectives, in particular, spiritual enlightenment. To attain this requires a certain degree of sacrifice. An example of this is a mother who puts her career on suspension whilst she places family needs first. This may be seen as a sacrifice to some but to others an act of love, depending on which perspective you take to view the situation. Upright Key words: Suspension, a new perspective, sacrifice leading to attainment, change, a turning point, abandoning, reversal, taking your time, time in suspension, enlightenment, a unique perspective, selflessness, a different viewpoint, being different, putting others first, geniuses, uniquely creative people, patience, waiting, the submissive. Be patient you may be facing a time when things appear to be in limbo and you may be required to hang around waiting for some thing to happen. A religious perspective would be to surrender to God. You may find that giving up the power of the conscious mind during meditation leads to a greater knowledge of the unknown. A personal sacrifice may have been made i.e. soldiers, war casualties or offering your time and skills to a much needed charity. You may be acting too submissively, it's time to stand your ground.
