Five of Cups The five of cups shows a woman or man standing rigid, their head is bowed in grief and they are dressed in a long black cape. The persons focus is on the ground where three cups lie empty on their sides, two remain upright. He/she hasn't accepted yet that although some happiness has gone from their life something still remains. In the near distance a river representing sorrow flows under a bridge and in the far distance the skyline of a village or town. When the person has accepted and dealt with their loss they can pick up the remaining cups and cross back over the bridge to their home in the town. In short the Five of Cups symbolises, loss and grief for something that a person holds dearly, this could be a way of life, a relationship that has ended or loosing some one through a death.
